Nederland Post Office

postThis focal point of the community was an eyesore and source of embarrassment for years due to the failure of the original developer to complete any landscape work. Weeds and dead plants were the scene that greeted people on their way to pick up and deliver their mail.Drainage was improved by the creation of a rock lined swale and bordered by flowering trees and perennials. Climbing roses on a split rail fence echo the theme of early homesteads in the area. The placement of large river boulders help define parking in the winter time, and reinforce the sites’ location in a glacial moraine.

The planting of native pine and spruce in a meadow surrounding the post office and installation of an irrigation system have helped complete the transformation of this once blighted building.
