Chipeta Park

This aging park was given a new life thanks to a new design, dedicated volunteers, and a grant from GOCO. The outdated wood play structure was removed and replaced with a new structure and new play surfacing. The play area was defined with a series of smooth boulders, graduated in size, which children love to jump from one to the next. The existing picnic shelter was renovated completely, with new bathrooms and landscaping.

In response to the strong winds which can pummel the park, a large berm was installed as a windblock and planted with aspen, spruce, and native shrubs. A sand play zone was created using massive river boulders which extend into the berm and serve as natural play elements.
