Sugarloaf Retreat

The owners of this home, located on 45 acres near Sugarloaf Mountain, had tried for years to create a landscape around the home that matched the beauty of their surroundings without success. One of the problems was the infertile soil that remained after construction of the house as well as the sloping front yard.

Truckloads of topsoil were brought in to help the landscape meet the home in a natural way. A large berm was constructed using native boulders to create the appearance of a natural rock outcropping. This helped to provide a transition between the garden area and the renovated landscape beyond. A stained concrete entry patio and driveway form a large outdoor living area to enjoy the native plantings.
